Military and Patriotic Songs

Stand up!  The flag is passing by!  From Julia Ward Howe’s “Battle Hymn of the Republic” to Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA”, we remember all that is good about our country and remind us of all the soldier sacrifices that have preserved it for us.  Each conflict had its music:  “Yankee Doodle” (Revolutionary War), “The Girl I Left Behind Me” (War of 1812), “Just Before the Battle, Mother” (Civil War), “I’m A Yankee Doodle Dandy” (World War I), and “White Cliffs of Dover” (World War II).  The Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine songs remind us that our boys are on guard.
